Cali’s story is fictional, but the plight of Wildfire, a thoroughbred racehorse who no longer finishes in the money, is very real. Every year some 2,000 “Wildfires” die on or around racetracks in the U.S. For $2 bets. It’s wrong and the exploitation must stop.

To help expose the plight of these magnificent animals, Patrick Battuello and I created and developed a feature documentary about the many ills of thoroughbred horse racing called Dying To Race – a film funded by Warner Bros. I also serve as an Executive Producer. The film will be released soon.
