William Neal has written eight books, created, developed, and is Executive Producer of the feature documentary Dying To Race, about the many ills of thoroughbred horse racing – a film funded by Warner Bros. He also wrote, produced, and directed the feature documentary, Long Gone Wild, about the ongoing plight of captive orcas.

That film won a prestigious 2020 Telly Award, has been translated into three languages, and is being distributed world-wide by Vision Films. His latest project is in development – a television series hosted by Dateline’s iconic storyteller, Keith Morrison.

William has some 400 hours of prime time television credits to his name as writer, producer, and director. As Executive Producer of the Emmy-nominated series E! True Hollywood Story, he developed more than 130 episodes and won numerous industry awards. Other credits include Unsolved Mysteries for Lifetime Network; the Jerry Bruckheimer production of Profiles from the Frontline for ABC; Rise and Fall of the Spartans and Jurassic Fight Club for History Channel; North Mission Road and LA Forensics for Investigation Discovery; The Unexplained for A&E; and the Chicago Bears ground-breaking rap video, The Super Bowl Shuffle.

William is a former color commentator for ESPN, and prior to that he was a college and professional hockey coach. He has been inducted into the “Sports Hall of Fame” in his hometown of Sarnia, Ontario; and similarly inducted into the Western Michigan University hockey program’s “Ring of Honor.” An avid skier and hiker, William holds a PhD degree and lives in Park City, Utah with his two rescue cats.
